Our family tends to make a big deal out of birthdays, but #8 is really a special one. Tanner can't wait to be baptized and get started in scouts.
First of all, a few of Tanner's favorites:
- color: blue
- treat: Milky Way
- Meal: BBQ chicken ("Tom and Jerry chicken")
- ice cream flavor: vanilla
- if he could spend $10 at Walmart he would buy: a Lego Star Wars battle pack
- movie: Oceans
- Song: Tonight Tonight
- Primary song: I love to see the temple
- activity: Play with friends
- If he could have any super power: Talk to animals
- Dream vacation: snorkling in Hawaii
- animal: Orca
- TV show: America's Funniest Home Videos
- subject in school: science
- what he wants to be when he grows up: Marine Biologist
- book: Bad Kitty series
We did lots of celebrating. After a quick after school snack of pumpkin chocolate chip bread (a favorite), we went bowling. Tanner was so close to beating Nathan. In the last frame of the entire game Nathan ended up passing Tanner by 2 points. Maybe next year will be his year to beat big brother.

After dinner at Shakey's (all you can eat pizza/pasta buffet), we had my family over for some cake and ice cream and presents. Tanner just had to have a Star Wars cake, even though he doesn't really even like store cakes.

The next morning he had a whole herd of friends over for a Star Wars birthday party. We played lots of games, but I think Tanner's favorite (which was his idea) was the Jedi training.

After practicing with the Jedi master, the boys practiced with each other.....

Until Darth Vader showed up.

After working together, they were finally able to bring him down. Very brave of Jon to lay down on the ground with over 10 armed boys still in attack mode.

What a fun group of boys!

Tomorrow we are off for his next birthday party at Jon's parent's house.
Happy Birthday Tanner! We love you.
