Spring Break

It was our typical spring break again this year.  Jon was busy at work and couldn't take any time off.  I thought this new job of his was supposed to make it so we had our spring and fall breaks back.  Nope.   We still had some fun activities planned around town.

Nana still has her grandparents pass to Hogle Zoo.  We couldn't pass up the chance to go with her.
Tanner and Nana share a mutual love for animals.  The zoo is probably one of their favorite places.

For the first time, Calla really showed an interest in all the animals.  She and Anika both really liked the baby elephant.
We can't go to the zoo without a stop for ice cream!  It's probably Nathan's favorite part....aside from bugging everyone.  See how happy he is when he has ice cream in his mouth?

Tanner loves the reptile house.  We happened to get there during feeding time for one of the snakes.  Tanner thought it was so cool and took about 50 pictures.

On our way home we decided to stop by Daddy's new office, which is pretty close to the zoo.  Calla fell asleep before we got there, and the kids thought it would be funny to decorate her head with an old (clean) diaper they found in the van, sun glasses, and her new stuffed animal "Ralph" from the zoo.

Jon gave us a tour of his new office, which the kids thought was so cool.  They have adult size scooters to ride around the office (because of the size).  The kids did laps around and raced daddy (most everyone had left work at that point and daddy was working late).  They also thought the cafeteria was so cool.  Free food with everything you can think of from yogurt and fruit to Snickers ice cream bars and soda.  The kids now think that dad rides a scooter around all day and eats as many cookies and ice cream bars as he can.

One of the days of spring break was really cold and rainy.  Our 7-Peaks passes included free ice skating at the time, and Tanner had been begging me since Christmas to take him ice skating again.  So we gave it a try.  Calla insisted on trying too.  I was surprised that she could do as well as she did.  I thought for sure she would get her skates on, hate it, and take them right back off.  When she actually kept them on, I thought she would get on the ice and not be able to balance and hate it.  But no.  She was skating by herself for a little bit towards the end.  I was grateful to have Grandpa show up and help me out for a while.  It saved my back from trying to help both girls.  Nathan kept himself busy trying to catch Tanner and bug him.  Luckily for Tanner, he can go faster than his big brother.  It sure motivated Nathan!

One Saturday morning we got a call from our church ward saying they were doing an emergency prep drill.  Since our block captains weren't home, they wanted Jon to go door to door and check on everyone and make sure they had their emergency packet from the ward.  He  went to a meeting at a neighbors house once a few years ago, and I'll just say it was pretty extreme.  Lots of talk about guns and neighborhood snipers.  Yikes.  So he thought it was funny to get this job.  He and Tanner put on his C.E.R.T gear and had a fun time.
